Essential Data Tools company is delighted to announce the release of ExtraBackup, a new software product for data backup. ExtraBackup is a replacement for our previous backup product GrandBackup whose support we now discontinue and which we downgrade to freeware with its source code freely available to anyone for the asking.

Compared to its predecessor, ExtraBackup is easier to use and more convenient. A lot of time and effort has been spent to create a really simple and beautiful interface. Nearly all user actions are implemented as step-by-step wizards and accompanied by entertaining animation.

But it is not just the appearance that has changed. The program now consists of two separate modules - the GUI application and the background process for data backup. The backup is normally initiated by the Windows built-in Task Scheduler. Upon completion, the program is fully unloaded from memory, thus consuming no CPU time or using any resources when idle.

ExtraBackup only employs standard methods of compression and encryption widely used in the industry. The data in backups are compressed as ZIP archives; optionally, you can encrypt backups using a password (in this case, an AES algorithm will be used for encryption).

Should the need arise to restore the data, meet Restore Wizard - you can extract the data from the backup for any date, whether it is an earlier file version that you want or anything saved on any other day or at the hour when the backup was made (depending on your backup schedule).

ExtraBackup incorporates all the experience and expertise acquired by Essential Data Tools in developing data backup software. We hope that you will enjoy using our new product just as we have enjoyed creating it for you!
